Testimonials

As a client of Initiatives I have four words to describe them…qualified, driven, deal-makers. Troy as the principal of the company does his research and follows through making everyone’s job easier. This partnership has been a success for our county and the project.

We launched our ethanol development business in June 2006 with an initial $12 million investment. In order to raise enough capital to build plants, it was necessary for us to develop a presentation package for institutional investors that delivered results.
First, we needed a thorough analysis of the current and future state of the ethanol industry. Second, we needed and clear and concise outline of our key differentiators. And third, we needed it fast and packaged into an effective investor presentation.
Initiatives delivered all three which provided the template for equity presentations.

In the short time that Troy Carlson has lived and worked in Kansas City, he had done a remarkable job of adding to the capacity and competitive position of Kansas City through his work with the building trades. When I need insight, big thinking, and action on a variety of topics I go to Troy...he not only knows how to think big thoughts but he knows how to do big things.

Former President & CEO

Initially, we contracted with Initiatives to find buildings for our project. What took us two years to accomplish took Initiatives a couple of months. We then used Initiatives to help us establish relationships with key public officials and business leaders. As a result, The University of Kansas Medical Center is now working with the right community leaders to ensure the project’s success. As the simulation event grew, we asked Initiatives to find us even more buildings – again, with their network of contacts, they delivered more buildings in a very tight timeframe. As an additional value-added service, Initiatives helped us track and document the project to make sure roles and responsibilities were clearly defined and carried out.

As an out of state investor new to Kansas, I was referred to Initiatives as the company to figure out how to establish a State of Kansas call center at my recently purchased facility in Halstead, Kansas. When we closed on the building, the RFP had already been issued and the major national call center vendors had already partnered with competing communities for the RFP.
Starting from behind, Troy Carlson and his team quickly assessed the situation looked nationally for a suitable call center vendor as a partner for PAZ Health Care. Then they had to “sell” it to the State of Kansas. In the end, we won it against the big national competitors; a true David and Goliath story!

Initiatives did a superb job of guiding us through a maze of multiple contacts and tasks necessary to get the job done.

“During Troy’s work it became clear to us that the KC metro had a gap in tech talent.  We begin looking for a coding boot camp partner and were able to launch our first full-stack web development coding boot camp in June 2017, partnering with Trilogy Education Services.  Since that time we have launched two other boot camps: Data Analytics and Cybersecurity. The standard format is 24-week, part-time, two evenings a week and Saturdays on the Edwards Campus. However, other formats are available including employer-specific custom training.  To date, we have graduated more than 400 individuals. During Troy’s work we also heard employers express the need for leadership and management skills.  We hired Dr. Lee Stuart who teaches in a variety of roles while providing research-based classes and seminars. Professional & Continuing Education is currently offering a non-credit Leadership Certificate which has been well received throughout the Kansas City area.  Dr. Stuart has also delivered customized in-house leadership and management programs to organizations including Sprint, GBA, WaterOne, Children’s Hospital Association, Orizon, and others.”
